Wigan Civic Trust Humphry Repton Talk

Welcome return of Gareth Williams, Curator at Weston Park in Shropshire, to give an entertaining and erudite talk on Humphry Repton, last of great English Landscape designers of 18th Century. Everyone welcome and free to attend although donations will be appreciated to cover costs, at 2pm in Mercure Wigan Oak Hotel, WN1 3SS.

Fashion Show by Barbara’s of Standish

This is a beginners class in Scottish Country Dancing. 2.30 to 4.30 on Sunday afternoons. A fun group which is open to all ages to have a go at Scottish Country Dancing (11 to 18 with an adult). No partner needed – just some soft shoes. Good exercise for both the body and the mind....

Ashton Coal Mining Talk

This historical talk discusses Ashton-in-Makerfield’s coal mining heritage from 1500-1900, particularly the large collieries at Garswood Hall, Bryn Hall and Park Colliery. Entry £3.
