Charnock Richard’s very own scarecrow festival returns – admire the scarecrows across the village and browse stalls from local organisations. There’ll be entertainment and voting for the best scarecrow.

Owlfest

Celebrate Standish’s iconic bird with live owl displays, an owl trail through the village, history, crafts and competitions! Free entry, refreshments available.

Viking Market

Shop like a Viking at this themed market filled with goods and crafts. Play a game of Hnefatafl and meet the Vikings to discover how they lived and fought, plus lots of refreshments and craft activities. Free admission.

Charity Evening

Scottish Country Dancing Beginners Class

This is a beginners class in Scottish Country Dancing. 2.30 to 4.30 on Sunday afternoons. A fun group which is open to all ages to have a go at Scottish Country Dancing (11 to 18 with an adult). No partner needed – just some soft shoes. Good exercise for both the body and the mind....

Ashton Coal Mining Talk

This historical talk discusses Ashton-in-Makerfield’s coal mining heritage from 1500-1900, particularly the large collieries at Garswood Hall, Bryn Hall and Park Colliery. Entry £3.
