Rebel Women: The Fight for Suffrage in Wigan
Commemorate the centenary of women over 30 getting the vote. A full itinerary of speakers including Helen Pankhurst, granddaughter of Sylvia Pankhurst, are scheduled to appear. Tickets £12 for anyone living in the Wigan borough or £15 for anyone else. Lunch included. Contact the Museum of Wigan Life to book.
Charity Ladies’ Lunch & Fashion Show
Barbara’s of Standish host a fashion show and ladies’ lunch to raise money for State of Mind. Includes vocalist and MC Josh Adams and special guest soprano Jan Monroe. Tickets £36 including 3-course meal and wine on arrival.
North West Bird Watching Festival
7 guest speakers over 2 days, including One Show presenter George McGavin. There are rooms full of exhibitors including books, clothes and charities, chances to feed otters, white storks and swans. Guided walks of the reserve, the 4th annual bird race on the Saturday, and bird ringing demonstrations.

Christmas Model Railway Show
The Rainhill Model Railway Club presents a day of model trains, layouts, traders and a Santa’s Grotto. There will also be vintage buses running between the show and the North West Museum of Road Transport. Adult admission is £3.50 or £4 for a child including a gift from Santa.
Astley Illuminated
For one evening, people can see and photograph the historic Astley Hall beautifully lit inside and out, with over 200 candles and LED spotlights. There will be amazing performances, delicious hot food and mulled wine.
Sea Cadets Christmas Fayre
Fun for all the family including Reiki taster sessions and aromatherapy, Christmas gifts, a raffle, craft stalls, refreshments and tombola. There’s also a chance for the kids to meet Santa.
Ormskirk Gingerbread Market & Lights Switch-On
This event promises lots of Ormskirk gingerbread, with gift stalls, entertainment and a live ice carving demo. The Christmas lights switch-on follows soon after – you won’t want to miss it this year!
Alcohol Ink Workshop
Experiment with alcohol inks by applying them to various surfaces and items, which can be collaged to produce beautiful effects. Learn new techniques to create motion within the piece! Please wear old clothes or protective clothing. Minimum age 12. Tickets £6.50 including basic materials.
Quiz & Social Evening
The Ormskirk and District Family History Society are hosting an informal night of quizzing. Bob Dobson, a book dealer, will also bring many out of print books to browse and purchase. All welcome.
